No facebook, no texting, no computers. Lots of exciting learning, making lasting friendships, greater family dynamics, fresh air and physical activity. We know from experience that it is good for teenagers to take a week-long ‘retreat’ from the hectic world we live in. It’s a safe, fun environment to learn real social skills. Our team leaders model healthy communication and interactions.

2. Friends. LOTS and LOTS of Friends.
Not the kind of friend who you only know through their status updates and posted profile photos…real live friends for life! We have campers from all over the Hawaiian islands, from all parts of the mainland, and even international campers! Spending a week with a diverse group of peers gives teens the chance to experience belonging to a positive and enriching community.

Have you seen our unbelieveable graduates in action? Their energy and enthusiasm is incredible and infectious! Staff positions at Hawai’i Leadership Academy are highly sought out, and at every camp 80% of our team is returning staff. That means experienced leaders to support, encourage and inspire your teen. It is critical for your teen to experience being surrounded by positive, competent adults and mature teens who they can trust and be inspired by.

We all know that these characteristics are important, but how do you no longer just talk about them and start BECOMING them? One of the many approaches we have refined at Winners’ Camp in teaching teens self-confidence is encouraging them to GET OUTSIDE THEIR COMFORT ZONES AND TAKE RISKS. We provide a safe environment where healthy risk-taking can be explored. Risks that support them in making positive choices and that push them to realize that they can do FAR MORE THAN THEY EVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE! Healthy risk-taking can be anything from facing life-long fears to participating in a talent show for the first time. For teens who have never been away from home, Winners’ Camp can be their first opportunity to step out into the world in a safe, supportive environment which we provide for them.

7. Without even realizing it, your teen will be acquiring academic skills.
Seriously…We incorporate a fun way for teens to leave camp with 32 new, empowering words that they will have to face when taking their SATs. It’s called SATT: Student Adventures in Test Taking.
Public speaking: GRRRR! Your teen will leave camp with the courage to speak in public. What a gift.
Etiquette is practically a foreign word in our culture. Your teen will come home with all around better manners. How cool is that?
